Debby Beece, Oxygen’s president of programming and marketing, officially announced the movie, saying, “Husband for Hire, with its hilarious, gorgeous cast, is a perfect romantic comedy for Oxygen. This will be our fourth original movie with Tim and Process Media, and nobody knows our audience better than them.”
The romantic comedy will feature Mark Consuelos as Nate, who is hired by a Latina businesswoman named Lola, played by Nadine Velasquez of My Name Is Earl. She gets him to be her pretend husband to get her share of the family fortune.
Other cast members include Mario Lopez (Saved by the Bell) as the ex-fiance of Lola, Erik Estrada (Sealab 2021) who plays Lola’s traditional father and Tempestt Bledsoe (The Cosby Show, South of Nowhere) as Lola’s no-nonsense best friend.
Prior to Age of Love, Consuelos entered the limelight by playing Mateo Santos on the soap opera All My Children, where he met and fell in love with love interest and now wife Kelly Ripa. Soon after leaving the daytime soap, he ventured into films, miniseries and a number of television series such as 1-800-Missing, where he played FBI Agent Antonio Cortez and Hope & Faith where he played Gary “The Gooch” Gucharez.
His most recent appearances were on the movies My Super Ex-Girlfriend and The Pleasure of Your Company, and on Law & Order: Criminal Intent as a guest star.

Latin American soap operas toy with monotonous housewives with intriguing plots which often revolve around the affairs and relationship encounters between the strikingly attractive characters. These daily drama serials, usually referred to as telenovela, are actually very similar in storyline. The elements are quite predictable, such unlawful affairs in past which brings out hidden familial linkages between the feuding characters. More often than not, the antagonist and protagonist are somehow related, relatively unknown to the fact in the initial stage of the plot.
Then there is also the element of murder and suspense. No drama is considered as a legitimate form of entertainment without these aforementioned characteristics. A certain character is framed and gets thrown into prison without having a chance of defending himself and then seeks revenge on the villain after being released.
In Bollywood, every emotion is celebrated by breaking into song. The grandeur backdrops of the enchanting snowy tops of Switzerland, the pedestrian-gawking roadside of London and the warm beaches of Mauritius are the favorite target of big-time film-makers when preparing for a song sequence. The lyrics of the song would then become a dialogue. Even in the Southern Indian film industry, the formula for a successful movie is obligatory to have at least two songs in it. Romance is also a huge part of the plot in an Indian movie.
At the end of the day, 90’s singer proudly sang,’ love will save the day’ in her famous track called ‘You Gotta Be.’

For independent film actor Lodric D. Collins, it was finding happiness and fulfillment in something he is passionate about and the ability to turn that passion into a successful career.
“I wanted to be fulfilled,” the independent film actor told Regal Magazine. “I wanted to enjoy what I’m [doing].” That epiphany that Collins experienced came after visiting his mentor who seemed to enjoy all the trappings of success, like financial prosperity, but did not appear to enjoy his life or career.
It was at that moment that Collins, who holds a degree in marketing from Southern University, decided to quit his regular job and pursue his dream of acting full-time in New York. The independent film actor enjoyed acting as a hobby from childhood to college, acting in plays such as “The Wiz” and “A Blues for an Alabama Sky” in Louisiana, but living in New York provided him with the opportunity to take his career to the next level.
“I was doing it when I was younger,” Collins explained. “It was something that I enjoyed doing, but it wasn’t a practical thing [because] I was in Lake Charles, Louisiana.”
However, the acting background he received allowed him to effortlessly transition to the stages of New York, performing in several plays in the Big Apple. Nevertheless, the independent film actor was not satisfied with performing just on stage, and used his marketing background to forge an up-and-coming career in television and film. He began to use that marketing degree to develop himself as a business, which has led to roles on the hit soap opera “All My Children” and films such as “What Really Frightens You” and “It’s All Been Arranged.”
While some “serious” actors shy away from daytime dramas, Collins enjoyed his experience on “All My Children” because it taught him how to adjust to the fast pace of the soap opera environment.
“I’ve got a lot of respect for those people,” the independent film actor said. “I think that’s one of the hardest working areas and people don’t realize it (but) they actually film five days a week. Monday through Friday is a different show. Most actors are used to filming one season out of the year, (but) they film every day. It teaches you how to be quick on your feet and to adjust. You don’t have the opportunity for a second chance to do a good job.”
The independent film actor is especially proud of his role in “What Really Frightens You” because he got the opportunity to spend significant time with the director behind the scenes, learning what angles work and why directors shoot a certain way, which has made him better at his craft.
In the film, Collins plays a gang leader, which unfortunately is usually a role reserved just for African Americans. “There’s not a lot of roles for African Americans,” he said. “We’re coming out of that place. Especially when I first got (to New York), if they were casting a gang member, the next thing you saw beside it was African American.”
Despite the limited roles for African American actors, Collins enjoys playing a wide range of roles because it shows the diversity of African American life and the knowledge he received from watching behind the camera could eventually lead to less stereotypical roles, as Collins sees himself one day working as a producer.
Unfortunately, like most successful people in any field of human endeavor, the road to success for this independent film actor has been anything but easy. Collins, who had been successful at virtually everything he pursued, had to overcome rejection and self-doubt for the first time when he began his career in New York.
“There were times when I doubted myself,” said Collins. “I didn’t realize it was one of my characteristics until I came into this field. [However] you take no’s and rejections like vitamins. They make you stronger. It makes you want to push harder.”
It is that positive outlook that has allowed the independent film actor to defy the odds and find success in a business that he admits is outside of the box. “I’m on the edge of a lot of great things coming about. Big things are coming,” Collins said.
Ultimately, it is believing in big things that has allowed Collins to pursue his passion and not just a paycheck at any regular job. And it is that passion for the arts that has led to his happiness and ultimate purpose in life.

Dallas (DVD) Review
Filed Under Art And Entertainment | Leave a Comment
Dallas spent most of its television life in the Friday night time slot following the successful CBS series, The Dukes Of Hazzard. Creator David Jacobs originally intended to create a series around a poor Texas girl, Pam Barnes (Victoria Principal), who marries into a wealthy family (The Ewings) with whom her family has been feuding for decades. The first five episodes mostly center around the family discord faced by Pam and her husband Bobby Ewing (Patrick Duffy) as they attempt to bring their families to a truce. But it soon became apparent to producers of the show that Bobby’s scoundrel of a brother, Ewing Oil President J.R. Ewing (Larry Hagman), would be the true star of the show. Son of Ewing Oil founder Jock Ewing (Jim Davis) and his wife Ellie (Barbara Bel Geddes), J.R. sought to make Ewing Oil the largest independent oil company in the world, and he intended to go to any lengths necessary to get what he wanted. And as you’ll see, sooner or later, J.R. always gets what he wants… Along the way, he butts heads with life-long rival Cliff Barnes (Ken Kercheval), drives his own wife Sue Ellen (Linda Gray) to alcoholism, and even mortgages the beloved Southfork Ranch (Miss Ellie’s childhood home and current residence for the majority of the Ewing clan). Southfork foreman Ray Krebs (Steve Kanaly) and Ewing grandchild Lucy (Charlene Tilton) add flavorful subplots to a series often dominated by J.R.’s nefarious schemes. In short, Dallas offers its viewers everything - money, sex, violence, conspiracy, intricate business dealings, etc. If you haven’t seen it, then immediately start watching from the beginning episodes of the first season. You won’t be disappointed…!
The Dallas DVD features a number of exciting episodes including the series premiere “Digger’s Daughter” in which the youngest of the Ewing sons, Bobby, introduces his wealthy family to his new bride, Pamela Barnes. But given the long-standing feud between their two families, not everyone is pleased. In fact, older brother J.R. immediately begins plotting to break up the marriage… Other notable episodes include “Election” in which J.R.’s nemesis Cliff Barnes sees his congressional hopes undercut by a Ewing-financed opposition campaign, and the season finale “John Ewing III” in which Sue Ellen’s alcoholism threatens the life of her unborn baby…
Below is a list of episodes included on the Dallas (Seasons 1

“Wow. I can’t believe how fast word travels,” Madison wrote in a recent post on her official website. “I have been bombarded with emails and [messages] asking if it’s true [that] Brandon and I have been let go from the show.”
Despite the initial shock of fans and friends, Madison continued to confirm the rumors with her statement saying, “I’m sorry/sad to say that we have, in fact, been released from our contracts. It was explained to us on Friday that this was a storyline dictated move by the writers, and that, at this time, we were free to move on to other work. We have both been incredibly grateful for the time that we’ve had here, and we will still be taping for the next few weeks.”
Brandon Beemer also expressed his sentiments about his and Martha Madison’s departure from the show on his official website.
“Sad to say that it’s true,” Beemer said. “The show’s decision was very unexpected, but it’s always something that comes with the territory. I’ll write more when I get more info.”
More confirmation came from Days of Our Lives spokesperson, who relayed the news to SoapCentral.com.
“Yes, it is true,” the spokesperson said. “We are very sad to see them go.”
Moreover, s small controversy stirred up when a source told SoapCentral.com that contradictory to what Madison claims is the cause of their firing, the actors were actually terminated because of financial issues. The decision to let the actors go, the source said, was made by none other than executive producer Ken Corday.
Martha Madison has been working on the soap since 2004, taking the role from Charity Rahmer, who temporarily replaced Kirsten Storms of General Hospital. As for Brandon Beemer, he became part of Days in 2006. Their final air dates are yet to be announced.

The Young and the Restless Actress Won’t be Dancing With the Stars
Filed Under Art And Entertainment | Leave a Comment
The 45-year-old singer-actress confirmed this through her official website.
“Guess what? It’s a [rumor]! But everyone here in town is hearing the same thing you’re hearing so don’t feel bad,” Nia Peeples said. However, she expressed delight in the thought that CBS had considered her for the reality series.
“The sad thing is I won’t be on [Dancing With the Stars] this season. The good thing is a rumor means they are seriously considering [putting me on the show],” she explained. “Also CBS called my agent in a panic when they heard, complaining that they were just starting to develop my character on [The Young and the Restless] and would be needing more of my time. The other good thing is that I can contractually do it next season.”
Earlier this year, Peeples was cast for the soap opera, The Young and the Restless, where she plays Karen Taylor, Nikkia Newman’s (Melody Thomas Scott) campaign manager. Peeples also appeared in various primetime series before joining the soap, and these shows include Walker, Texas Ranger, Andromeda, Barbershop and Early Edition.
Nia Peeple’s website reported that her latest air dates on The Young and the Restless include September 10, 17, 18, 24.
As Peeples won’t be appearing on Dancing with the Stars, another soap actress will be gracing the dance floor with his moves. All My Children’s Cameron Mathison was cast to appear on the reality dance competition with professional dancer Edyta Sliwinska.
This is not the first time that a daytime actor participated in the competition, as the first season of Dancing with the Stars featured General Hospital’s Kelly Monaco and daytime veteran John O’Hurley. The actors competed with each other and Monaco emerged victorious in the first season of Dancing with the Stars.

Braun was former cast for ABC’s General Hospital as Caroline “Carly” Benson-Roberts Corinthos. She left the daytime series in 2005 to partake in other projects. After three long years, she is back to the world of soaps.
In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Tamara Braun shared her emotions on being called for the show. “It was an exciting surprise,” she exclaimed. “I got a call, and it was a role that really intrigued me, so we got to talking. [Ava] sounds very layered and complicated and seems like there’s a lot to sink my teeth into.”
Accepting the offered role also allowed Braun to reunite with former General Hospital cast mates Stephen Nichols and Mary Beth Evans. Braun said that she’s happy to be working with the two again. “Stephen and I would cross over in the makeup room and say basic, “Hellos,” but we never really got to know each other and we never as actors worked together, so I’m looking forward to it. He’s an actor’s actor and likes to get into it. I’m looking forward to what we might find,” she shared.
Evans on the other hand, immediately approached Braun and gave her “the biggest hug” upon her arrival on the set for her first taping day. Braun is also keen on befriending and getting to know all the other Days of our Lives cast. “So far, everyone is warm and nice,” she gleefully said.
Braun will be appearing on the show for only a short-time. Her contract with NBC was clear about this. But Braun is happy about it, and it’s just exactly what she wants. She even considers the arrangement as a “perfect” one. She simply knows her plans and priorities in life. “There was nothing wrong with leaving daytime and there’s nothing wrong with coming back,” she explained. “Things just have to line up in your life. It has to be the right time to express and explore certain things.”

Old Time Radio Shows
Filed Under Art And Entertainment | Leave a Comment
Let us get back in time… there was a hype about radio entertainment in the 1920s. This hype ruled till the early 1960s. At the beginning, the majority of radio programs imitated the variety show acts that had been the stronghold of civic amusement until radio. Comics or singers also started ruling the airwaves!
Most of all, you did not have to go away from your home in order to enjoy the entertainment! Eventually, audiences in general became somewhat more mature and a variety of other types of entertainment programs were added to the lineups on radio networks.
One of the major popular areas of Radio was drama series. They became very popular including various shows featuring doctors and soap operas, or even popular movie scripts especially adapted for public radio broadcasts.
The old time radio action series had cops, robbers and private detectives! There were some fantasy series that thrilled large audiences with extremely famous fictional characters, often from comic book fame including Superman as well as the Green Hornet!
But horror shows were also in great demand. Thus came shows that featured things like ghosts, vampires, as well as werewolves. But the world never lacked science fiction fans. Thus came tales and predictions on the future, space travel, and exciting exploration of the things unknown including the paranormal.
As for another other instance, take the account of game shows such as “You Bet Your Life” that let the most of the average people to escape from the monotony of everyday life!
Do you know what is the 1st ever commercially held radio station on the land of the U.S? According to most of the historians, it was radio station KDKA in Pennsylvania.
Radio stations began their irregular broadcasting in the early 1920s. But you may ask which form of entertainment was initially popular on radio? Until the end of 1920s, the vast majority were musical programs including opera, jazz, country/western, classical, or other forms of popular music. Between songs the singers themselves might tell a joke or two or tell an amusing story about something that happened in their real life. In the early days, there were only a very few dedicated comics as would become most popular beginning in the 1940s.
The in the 1930s, the very first daytime series had appeared by featuring love, romance, and other emotional subjects that were employed to appeal to the average American housewives. The vast majority of those programs were sponsored by contemporary soap products. That is the time when they came to be known as the soap operas. Gone are the days of intense cliffhanger shows like “The Cisco Kid” or the “Captain Midnight” that were broadcast during the afternoons to entertain young people of that time. Moms loved the shows, not to watch themselves, but as “babysitters” for their kids who were home and often restless from a day stuck in a desk at school.
Comedy series were always the “Kings” of the old time radio shows, however. Shows like “Amos ‘N’ Andy”, “The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show”, “The Jack Benny Show”, “The Milton Berle Show”, “The Martin and Lewis Show”, and many others brought a bit of cheer to what were often hard lives for millions of viewers.

The regular Internet user spends nearly forty-one days each year being online or approximately 164 minutes per day, also researches reveals that 148 minutes per day are spent watching television. This supports studies done in September 2005 that most individuals spend almost eight hours a day using 2 or even more media simultaneously.
It all began in the opposite way - The Internet was made compatible with a television set, and individuals could access the web through their television screen. Now things are beginning to move in the opposite direction. Television is now being tailored to fit into the constantly changing perimeters of the World Wide Web. The benefit? Now individuals can watch TV online. But what exactly can individuals watch over their computer screen?
Online TV is opening up a world of possibilities for television stations. All over the world, TV stations are making their broadcasts available to view online. The United States alone offers hundreds of stations, while nations like South Africa, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Uruguay, Finland, Spain, France, Japan and many more are offering stations as well. The possibilities are endless when it comes to what individuals can find when they watch TV online. Whether you’re interested in movies, news, documentaries, various sporting events, soap operas, kids programs, music channels, in fact the list is endless. Even the best football matches that aren’t shown on normal satellite or cable can be found online, even live Premiership games in the UK!
There are many advantages to making television accessible via the web. Many people have very little time to watch television during the day. There are workers who get up in the morning and work late and are on their laptops always working on a day-to-day basis. On a lunch break; it would be nice for people to have a chance to get away and watch a bit of TV. Maybe Catch up on the scores or sneak a glimpse of a soap opera. This would appeal to busy people; many of those who don’t get a chance to do so at home can watch TV online on a computer.
Watching TV online requires no additional hardware and when new channels become available they are automatically added. All the software necessary to view TV on the Internet use easy to use user interfaces. The best thing and the most obvious is that there is no monthly charges for watching TV on the Internet usually just a small one time fee to get all the information to get you up and running. There are literally hundreds of channels available and Internet software adapt to pretty much any Internet connection however fast or slow.
This method of watching TV is new and revolutionary and is already pulling in billions of viewers worldwide. I’m sure that in years to come, once people have found out how much is available online, Internet TV will become more popular than ever!

And now for that thought provoking question that plagues men’s souls unceasingly through the bright shining of the day and through the untold dark depths of the night:
Why did Peter, who in reality is actually Superman, fake that he stubbed his toe on the 17th stone on the sidewalk starting at 4th and Grand instead of the 16th stone, which was bigger and more logically the victim of that invulnerable toe and why did Marlys take Sam’s advice to buy the yellow tulip instead of the red and green carnation, while all the time Rodregus knew that the curvaceous young Pandora was at the moment buying the last purple, double-breasted, duck-billed, warbling giraffe in the world for her dear departed Phillip disguised as a lowly second mate on the Queen Mary, which was under attack by the tyrant Cedric because of the terrible beating he had suffered at the hands of Radcliff whose ex-wife Natalie was actually Percival’s long lost great-great-uncle Maximillian in disguise who knew that Zigmond was fond of un-pitted olives stuffed into green grapefruit filled graciously with Granny and Gretchen’s goulash, which was gradually getting gooey and who also knew of Jennifer’s contact Louella in the deep Congo, seized at the time by the dread Gardenia, the 7th cousin of Guenivere, in hopes of receiving the eight-ounce bottle of Elmer’s Glue stored in the vast files in the cortex of Courtney’s colossal computer complex carefully compiled to correct the current curling, commonly crusading as the contagious, communicable, crystalline, cucumber crud, carried on cue sticks by crying cuckoo clock birds continuously to conform with the cunning Cornelius’ cumbersome plot to corrupt the currency and continue the crisis of the Cormandel Coast Cult, complicated by the coroner Cort’s corny connotation to conceal his consecutive coronary contractions constantly crippling his conscious efforts to contradict congenial counterparts’ careful counterfeit correspondence with Corwyn, the cosmic cosmetician?
Was it because Bill had green eyes or was it because Melissa meddled menacingly and meticulously in Maude’s plans to read the calendar to see what year she had been sent to by her superiors in the future?
Tune in tomorrow for the exciting climax created by another deep question.

The songs he’s set to perform are “Apologize” and “The Way I Are,” which are tracks taken from his latest album release, titled Timbaland Presents Shock Value. Also collaborating with him on the album are fellow recording artists OneRepublic and Keri Hilson. For the One Life to Live episode, the plot revolves around a girl named Sara Roberts, who meets up with the character of Christine Vega. Roberts intends to apply for a job opening at the Capricorn club through Vega. When asked to voice his thoughts on working for the television series, Timbaland stated that it was a first time and a new experience for him, and that he hoped to enjoy being able to share his music.
However, the soap opera has already had prior experience in inviting along guest performers to have their tunes featured on the show. Other musical acts that have previously been presented on One Life to Live include Erykah Badu, Mary J. Blige, and Simply Red. During an interview with the website allhiphop.com, series executive producer Frank Valentini explained that he was also a big fan of Timbaland’s music, so the rap artist was a natural choice to guest star on the show.

Before we review this ranking, we would like to describe a bit of the selection criteria we considered. To join this ranking, Brazilian beauties would necessarily need to have a “Brazilian Look”, which normally means dark hair, brown eyes, and sun-tanned skin. Another very important selection criterion was body shape. Since we up-front defined the “Brazilian Look” as a must for this list, catwalk type models were avoided. Curves are an essential item for a true Brazilian Brunette, or “morena” in Portuguese. A good set of body proportions goes without saying.
Finally, apart from proving a brief biography of each selected personality, we also explained why the dazzling Brazilian brunette was chosen to be a part of this unique ranking.
Top Brazilian Brunette # 1: Nat?a Guimar?. Short Biography: Model, former Miss Universe Brazil. Nat?a Guimar? won the title in April 14 2007 beating out over 26 other contestants from states and the Federal District, Bras?a. On May 28, 2007, Nat?a competed in the 2007 Miss Universe Pageant held in Mexico City, Mexico. She finished as the 1st runner up. Nat?a Guimar? won this poll with almost a third of the votes. Why in the TOP 20 Brazilian Brunettes Ranking? If an E.T. from Mars landed on Earth and asked me to appoint the best example of a Brazilian brunette that would be her. Long perfect straight hair, sensual curves, imaginative dark and unparalleled smile confers Nat?a Guimar? the number 1 post.
Top Brazilian Brunette # 2: Juliana Paes. Short Biography: Actress, former model and drum queen. Juliana Paes is the typical Carioca Girl. Day time soaps are more popular than ever. Many women and even some men, have been following these never ending, never repeated shows for years almost religiously.
The newest soap operas are those that are aired during prime television viewing hours, somewhere between 7 and 9 p.m. at night. These night time soap operas came on the scene during the 1970’s. The first ones that were really big hits were Dallas and its spin off show, Knots Landing. These soaps were made a little differently than their day time counterparts.
Following the lead of these pioneering night time dramas in more recent years were shows like ER, The O.C., Desperate Housewives, and one of the latest hits, Grey’s Anatomy.
These new shows have an even bigger following than the first ones. Entire seasons of many of these prime time soaps can be purchased on DVD today and their reruns are already being broadcast on satellite and cable channels.
Evening shows such as those mentioned, were the catalyst that rocketed several of their actors and actresses to stardom. Brad Pitt for example, got one of his first significant roles on Dallas. Pitt also acted on the day time soap, Another World. Joan Collins had acted for years, but her fame only reached its peak after she starred on Dallas.
George Clooney, though he had been acting for a while, really became famous playing an emergency room doctor on ER in the 1990’s. Today Pitt and Clooney are two of the biggest stars around, as well as Demi Moore, who also got her start in daytime dramas.
On the hit show, Desperate Housewives, the actresses Marcia Cross, Felicity Huffman, Eva Longoria, and Terri Hatcher, all seem to be almost equally sharing the fame that the show has brought them. It has been on for several seasons and shows no signs of waning fans.
It must be that there are two elements that make prime time soap operas so appealing to such a broad and committed audience. The first reason being they often have such outlandish story lines that they could probably never be a situation in our own mundane lives.
The second reason being, that some story lines can hit us so close to home and pack such an emotional punch, that we begin to feel a real connection to the characters that we have come to love. These shows provide us with both sides of a coin, so to speak.

Think about it: In three or four hundred years time, no one will really understand twentieth century English, anymore than we understand Elizabethan English. We think Shakespeare is so great mostly because we don’t know what the hell they’re friggin’ talking about, you know, all those ‘Hither’s’ and ‘ thee’s’ and ‘yon’s”. So, we all pretend we do and nod solemnly and praise the ‘beautiful’ language when we really don’t want to look stupid. Centuries from now it will be the same with Gilligan’s Island. Our descendents will be ‘oohing’ and ‘ahhing’ over the beautiful language of this show.
As envisioned by creator Sherwood Schwartz, Gilligan’s Island was meant to be Social Commentary using the metaphor of cast-a-ways trapped on an island, each one of the cast-a-ways was iconic of an American segment of society. The interaction between the characters would be symbolic of the interaction in our cultures. Thus, you have Mr. Howell and his wife representing the American Upper classes, The Skipper representing the working classes, The professor representing the intelligentsia, Ginger the entertainment sector, Mary Ann the rural Midwest and Gilligan … all of us. Gilligan was the American Everyman.
As with The Tempest, the island setting represented the deep psychological underpinnings of the story. Here you have a world unto itself separated from civilization, a Hobbesian state of nature where life is nasty, brutish and short. Thus it is human nature itself.
By the way, if you’re a High School or College student looking for stuff to steal for a term paper … go ahead and steal this. None of these ideas are mine, anyways. And it’s not really plagiarism if it’s already been copied from somewhere else in the first place, so feel free to use this all you want. What’s that? Just a second …..
Oh. I just found out it is plagiarism. I’m sorry. My Bad.
There also is the Religious interpretation of Gilligan’s Island. This interpretation has each of the cast-a-ways representing one of the seven deadly sins in a sort of morality play. The Howells represent Greed, of course. The Skipper represents Gluttony, that one’s obvious, too. Gilligan is Sloth … I think. Ginger is Vanity. The professor is pride, because he’s so pround of how smart he is and Mary Ann …. she doesn’t seem so sinful, but I know there was one that was supposed to represent her.
Bob Denver by all accounts was a very intelligent and talented actor. You’d have to think that it would take a genius to play the part of such a boob to perfection. Denver’s career, I have to believe, must have been forever crippled by brilliance of his character portrayal, such that he was never offered another acting role of merit because he had forever captured that one role to perfection, and was condemned ever after to live in that twilight world of Conventions and Super Market openings.
Now, please remove your hats and sit right back and you’ll hear a tale, a tale of a fateful trip..

For more than 20 seasons, Hogestyn has worked on Days of Our Lives as John Black, who was mostly shown lying comatose on a hospital bed. John regained consciousness only in May, however was still not able to receive a satisfactory amount of exposure on the soap opera.
Drake Hogestyn finally disclosed his discontent with the daytime drama during a fan event, thus intensifying rumors of him leaving the show.
“At some point, everybody is going to leave the show,” Hogestyn said. “I have six months left on my contract, so… After 20 years of throwing fan club gatherings, this is the final mission. The reality of it is, sooner or later, you’re at the tail [end] of your talent cycle, whether it be here or somewhere else.”
Moreover, a spokesperson for Days of Our Lives announced that Drake Hogestyn has not cut ties with the soap opera yet, even if two popular soap magazines have already questioned the actor’s future with the daytime drama. Some say that the representative’s statement was just part of the network’s ordered publicity, and fans will have to wait and see if Hogestyn will renew his contract once it expires a few months from now.
Hogestyn’s work-related problems aren’t the only things in his mind as he has been through some personal problems earlier this year. Before the end of 2006, a crazed fan busted into Hogestyn’s house with a bible, claiming to be on a mission to exorcize the actor. Hogestyn reported that the fan was calling him by his character’s name, and strongly believed that he was being possessed by the devil. The fan was sentenced in February.

The first commercial radio station in the U.S. (KDKA in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) began occasional broadcasting in 1920. By 1922, the first regularly broadcast old time radio shows had begun. Up until the late 1920s, musical programs were most popular with shows highlighting opera, big bands, jazz, classical, and popular music.
In the 1930s, the first daytime series appeared featuring romance and other subject matter that appealed to the typical American housewife. Most of those programs were sponsored by soap products and that’s where the term “Soap Opera” originated. Radio shows like “The Cisco Kid” and “Captain Midnight” were broadcast in the afternoons for the entertainment of young people as they returned home from school. Comedy series began to appear including the “George Burns and Gracie Allen Show” and the “Jack Benny Show” which both began in 1932. “Amos ‘N Andy” actually hit the airwaves in 1928! Then in the early 1940s, a nearly never-ending list of comedy programs joined those pioneers and comedy shows became the most prolific genre through the end of Old Time Radio.
By 1947, 82% of people in the U.S. listened to the radio on a regular basis. The Old Time Radio shows were not like most audio books of today where someone with a pleasant voice reads you a book. Old Time Radio shows were productions just like the television programs of today. There were sound effects, multiple actors in multiple roles, and first rate scripts! Many people today are shocked at how entertaining they can be when they hear their first Old Time Radio program. The lack of video can actually be a plus! Your mind often imagines the characters and scenery much better than seeing those things on a television screen.
Most Old Time Radio Shows were aired live up until the late 1940s. Therefore, the most popular shows had to be performed twice due to the time difference between the east coast and the west coast. Most of those programs are lost to us today as they were generally not recorded. There are exceptions where and advertiser wanted copies of their programs or for some programs that aired in syndication. Thankfully, by the early 1950s, many programs were broadcast live on the east coast and recorded for later broadcast on the west coast. A surprisingly large number of those recordings are still in existence today thanks, mostly, to collector/hobbyists who acquired them through the years. Due to their age, most of those are available free of charge on the web or at very low cost on cd (in mp3 format) from numerous vendors.
In the mid 1950s TV was becoming the king of entertainment and radio was transforming into a mostly musical format. There were shows, however, that continued for a few more years and some of them even aired at the same time as a TV version of the same program.

Most of the brightest stars the sector can boast of today were discovered by him, Just as he produced most of the films that raised the industry to international recognition.
His name is Zeb Ejiro and his contributions to the movie industry stand him out as a grand master of the make-believe industry.
Over the years, this Mass Communications graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, has held enviable positions, including being president of the Association of Movie Producers (AMP). He is presently the Vice Chairman, Board of Trustees, AMP, Trustee, Directors Guild of Nigeria and a member of a few other organisations.
The road to the movie world started for him after writing a script for NTA titled “But My Ring on My Grave”.He was among the 27 people chosen by NTA out of the about 5,000 people who applied, and was later trained by NTA and BBC in 1985 in script writing, directing / producing.
Though he stayed with NTA for a while, when he left he still wrote scripts for NTA on village Headmaster, Second chance and other programmes. He later created his first soap Opera Ripples .
Later he moved on to Fortunes then changed the name to Mega Fortunes. His quest for more launched him into the movie industry. The first movie he shot as a director was Nneka the Pretty Serpent. Then, Fatal Desire where Hilda Dokubo debuted, Ikoko 2 followed and then Mortal Inheritance among many others.
On why he had lied low in the past few years he says: it gets to a point in one’s life when one gets bored about doing one thing again and again, and you just need something more challenging. I think I have gotten to a stage whereby I need to start impacting knowledge to people because God has blessed me so much. That is why I have been spending my time building a film school in Delta State. It is called Film and Broadcast Academy. We intend to teach script writing, production management, directing and anything that has to do with film making and television broadcasting. This is where I have been channeling my energy.
On how the industry has fared he says “The industry has done well, yes. But, atimes, tears run down my cheeks because this is not the industry we built. It is presently in total comatose. It is down and if care is not taken it will be out. Training is lacking in the industry. People are not trained. Most of the people you see in the industry today came in through apprenticeship. Apprenticeship is good, but it is better to go and get formal training, because you’ll raise your standard.
Also, there is the distribution network problem. I think at this point in time, my take is that there should be a shift. There should be a change of guard. We have a new Minister of Information and I think she should inject new blood into the Censors board and the NFC.
He futher describes the African Movis Award (AMAA) as d only credible award presently in Nigeria and Africa, as it has given movie makers something to look forward to every year.
Zeb Ejiro sees himself as one of the richest and happiest producers/directors in the country today, in the sense that many of the big stars in Nollywood debuted in his movies. In his words he says “Many of them are about the biggest today and they have been working so hard making names for themselves. All of them too accord me that respect from time to time. I got Omotola Jolade-Ekeinde a Hollywood movie with Genevieve Nnaji and we all travelled. She shed tears and told me that I have been instrumental to her success. She said she was going to show her appreciation someday and that what she was going to do, I’ll be surprised. I cried when she said that. Genevieve said the same thing too, because I gave her major break-through. Regina Askia, Liz Benson, RMD, Ngozi Ezeonu, Jennifer Okere, Alex Osifo-Omiagbo, etc.
After an award ceremony one day, Chief Raymond Dokpesi called me and said that more than 80 per cent of people who received awards that day dedicated it to me, meaning I must have done a lot in their lives. I think it is based on this that the federal government commended my contribution by giving me the honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON)”.
On low sales of movies he attributes it to this “I think it’s because Nigerians are tired of what we produce. Storylines are shallow and lack depth. Plots are nothing to write home about. When there is nothing to keep you glued to your set, you switch it off. To change this, we need a change at the top. We need people who can handle the mantle of leadership. We need people who have vision. Training schools should be empowered to train us. We want a governing body.. We need to raise standards, so that we can do more professional jobs so that we will be able to compete internationally.
Presently Zeb says he has a movie he has finished shooting but he won’t release it until there’s a change in the movie distribution network.
